Harry Potter dough figures

So, with the holidays coming up I decided to make some Christmas Ornaments but I had some leftover dough. So, I made some Harry Potter figures. Right now, they look like weird squished up "thingys". Hopefully, they'll look better painted!

My work studio
                                      Ron
                                      Hermione
                                      Harry
                                       All Three
                                      Random ornaments
                                      Blobbing the paint on
                                      Ron's hair colour
                                     Mixing up the colours
                                     Painting on Hermione's hair.

I won't show the whole painting steps so here is the final project! Ready to dry!

                                      The trio!
                                      Ron Weasley Painted
                                      Look at Ron's sweater! <3 <3
Harry All Painted. (Yes, it is a bit blurry, I couldn't get it to focus.)
                                     Ron Weasley Painted (again)

Hermione All Painted (this one was very hard to paint)

So, that was my Harry Potter figures made from salt dough, they are very hard to paint and quite hard to keep from crumbling.... Here is a quick recipe....

What you need:
1/2 cup of salt
1/2 cup of water
1 cup of flour
(You can double the amount)

How to make the dough:
Recipe from http://rainydaymum.co.uk

Add the 1/2 cup of salt and 1 cup of flour to a bowl stir in the water adding it slowly – you may not need all of the water. You want the dough to be dry – if it gets sticky add more flour. Knead the dough and then roll out and use as you want.
Once you have made the shapes you want then you need to dry them so you can paint. Traditionally salt dough is dried in the oven which takes around 3 hours at a low heat so they don’t burn. But instead  swap your oven for a microwave and zap for 3 minsDO NOT MICROWAVE, unless you want your microwave to catch fire. Wouldn't that be fun? Sadly, you can not use Aguamenti to counter product the fire, for that will cause an even worse fire. Instead, let dry in direct sunlight for 48 hours or use the oven method. Leave to cool down and then paint the shapes.
